On a footpath or pavement

You may not be stationary or park on the pavement.

You must not be stationary or park on a footpath, also known as a pavement.

On a bicycle path

You may not be stationary or park on the cycle path.

At the beginning or end of a cycle path

You may not be stationary or park at the start of a cycle path.

You must not be stationary or park within 5 metres before or after the point where cyclists or moped riders leave the carriageway to enter the cycle path.

You must not be stationary or park within 5 metres before or after the point where cyclists or moped riders leave the cycle path to enter the carriageway.

On a level crossing

You may not be stationary or park on a level crossing.

On tram tracks in the carriageway

You may not be stationary or park on tracks in the carriageway.

You must not park on tram tracks in the carriageway.

Stopping there is not strictly prohibited, but you must never obstruct a tram.

On a crossing

You may not be stationary or park on a crossing.

On a chequerboard marking

You may not be stationary or park on a chequered marking.

This applies both to the traffic lanes and the breakdown lane, and on a motorway also to the entry and exit ramps.

Stationary and parked vehicles prohibited on the carriageway and verge

At a junction without traffic lights

You may not be stationary or park near a junction.

Your vehicle must not be stationary or parked on the carriageway or verge within 5 metres of a junction.

At a junction with traffic lights

You may not be stationary or park near a junction with traffic lights.

Your vehicle must not be stationary or parked on the carriageway or verge within 20 metres of traffic lights at a junction.

Near road signs

You may not be stationary or park near a traffic sign.

Your vehicle must not be stationary or parked on the carriageway or verge within 20 metres of a road sign if doing so would obstruct the view of it.

In some cases, you may be stationary and park near a traffic sign.

However, if the bottom of the road sign is at least 2 metres above the ground and the car, including its load, is no more than 1,65 metres high, your vehicle may be stationary or parked there.

Near traffic lights outside a junction

You may not be stationary or park near traffic lights.

Your vehicle must not be stationary or parked on the carriageway or verge within 20 metres of traffic lights outside a junction if doing so would obstruct the view of them.

In some cases, you may be stationary and park near traffic lights.

The same exception applies here: if the bottom of the traffic light is at least 2 metres above the ground and the car, including its load, is no more than 1,65 metres high, your vehicle may be stationary or parked there.

Stationary and parked vehicles prohibited on the carriageway

In front of a crossing

You may not be stationary or park before a crossing.

Your vehicle must not be stationary or parked on the carriageway within 5 metres in front of a crossing. This applies to both pedestrian crossings and crossings for cyclists and moped riders.

Under a bridge or in a tunnel

You may not be stationary or park under a bridge.

Your vehicle must not be stationary or parked on the carriageway under a bridge or in a tunnel.

Near the top of a hill

You may not be stationary or park near the top of a hill.

Your vehicle must not be stationary or parked on the carriageway near the top of a hill.

On a dangerous bend

You may not be stationary or park in a dangerous bend.

Your vehicle must not be stationary or parked on the carriageway on a dangerous bend when visibility is insufficient.
